Volunteer firefighter Kenneth Walker lost his home in a fire. Buffalo News report the fire happened after he received a threatening and racist letter earlier in the week.
The letter read,
N******S ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE FIREFIGHTERS. NO ONE WANTS YOU IN THIS CITY. YOU HAVE UNTIL THE END OF THE WEEK TO RESIGN YOUR POSITION OR YOU WILL REGRET IT……..
Amanda Walker, Ken Walker’s wife told Buffalo News the fire was retaliation because he wouldn’t resign from the fire department.
WKBW Buffalo reported that police confirm a suspect is under arrest for the fire. The man identified is 39 year old, Matthew Jurado. He is Ken Walker’s neighbor and a former firefighter.
You have to have a different level of hate in your heart to burn someone else’s home down because he’s black. Although, it’s not anything new which is very sad.
Ken Walker said that he isn’t intimidated and will continue to volunteer.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire but the Walkers lost everything. A GoFundMe account was created to help the Walker family get back on it’s feet.
