Live TV is hard.
The general rule though is you never want to use someone’s death as a reason a player should win an on the court or field award.
Dave Mcmenamin was on The JUMP with Rachel Nichols and while explaining why LeBron should be considered the MVP he unfortunately used things that frankly shouldn’t have been brought up in the discussion.
It also should be noted that we have no idea how Giannis took Kobe’s death. We do know that he trained with Kobe, and I spoke to Giannis about how Kobe helped him on his MVP journey last year.
I asked Giannis how Kobe’s MVP tweet motivated him https://t.co/iZw6r44FQ4 pic.twitter.com/QhGn4p2ift

Many people were rightfully upset about and took out their frustrations with Mcmeanamin, Kendrick Perkins and Rachel Nichols.
While Mcmenamin has not addressed what he said, Nichols decided to speak about what happened.
You have to decide if you feel her explanations are valid or not.
