Here is the Good, Bad, and Ugly for the NFC South this year. The opinions expressed are mine, so dont give the boss a hard time about anything I say here.
The Good: The Rushing Attack
As a whole, the NFC South has a great crop of running backs. Each team has at least 2 backs that can gain 1000 yards this season. Stewart and Williams for the Panthers showed you last year. Look for the rest of the 2 back systems in the division mimic the same formula.
The Bad: The Quarterback Position will determine the Division Champ
Drew Brees and Matt Ryan? Yes. Jake Delhomme? Maybe. Byron Leftwich/Josh Freeman/Luke McCown? Umm…nah. Drew Brees will put up Marino numbers again and Matt Ryan will have a solid season. He has a new toy in TE Tony Gonzalez plus the overpaid Roddy White, who should be inspired to be a top 5 receiver. Jake Delhomme is getting older. Steve Smith is one of the best in the League, but what happens to the passing game if a defense shuts that down? The uncertainty in Tampa spells trouble. Even though they brought in Kellen Winslow, and Bryant is coming back, who is going to be the man? Whichever QB plays the best this season will lead his team to the division crown.
The Ugly: The Race for First Place
No team made leaps and bounds over the others to solidify themselves as a front runner. This years fight will be just as exciting and unpredictable as last years.
Predictions:
1)Saints
2)Falcons
3)Panthers
4)Bucs
