I don’t think anyone should be surprised that this information has come out. Most people are aware that Iverson has a lot of issues going on right now and alcohol and gambling has long be a concern for those close to A.I.
Stephen A. Smith who has been writing and covering Iverson for years decided to bring some of these issues to light today in a column for the Philadelphia Inquirer he says that only John Thompson can stop A.I. from this downturn.
“[Thompson] is the one guy who’ll have a chance of slowing this train wreck down, who could wrap his arms around Iverson and have an impact, because clearly it has not been done,” Chaney said, according to Smith. “But there’s still this one question: Will [Iverson] listen?”
Iverson in the last year has had a tough time dealing with his career winding down, dealing with a sick child and now his impending divorce from his wife of eight years.
We can only hope that whatever demons Iverson is facing that he is able to overcome them.
Suddenly there are a lot more questions surrounding Allen Iverson than answers.
