Michael Irvin To Bring 80’s Discipline Back to THE U

New Miami Hurricane head football coach Al Golden is bringing back a blast from the past in his quest to return the university to on field prominence.  Upon his hiring; Golden promised that Hurricane players would be smart, tough, discplined and asked former Hurricanes to return to the field to instill their legacy back into the program.  Far fetched as it may sound, NFL hall of famer Michael Irvin has answered Golden’s plea with a contribution to the discipline arena.

Considered the GodFather of the great 80’s and 90’s teams that put the “U” in undiscplined, Irvin’s most recent donation to his alma mater can be found on nothing more than a flier circulating throughout the football program.  Here are the words of wisdom from the former Dallas Cowboy:

In all honesty, it’s past due that a Miami coach embraces the program’s roots.  In spite of the negativity commonly associated with the era, the championship days of the U can not be ignored.  Embracing past players who made the program a national power while working on the sportsmanship and character of today’s players could is a path untraveled at the U.  I applaud Golden for realizing what once was and what can be.
