DeAngelo Hall is a very talented player and one of the better corners in the league. On most NFL teams , he could probably start as the number 1 corner. With the exception of Jay Cutler, most quarterbacks are aware that Hall can make some game-changing plays from time to time and don’t throw it his way often. I was sad to see him leave Atlanta when the Falcons “started over” following the Michael Vick situation. However, every now and then he has these “DeAngelo moments” which remind you why he’s bounced around from team to team.
Hall’s Redskins will play the Dallas Cowboys next week on Monday Night Football and not only is DeAngelo aware of Romo’s injuries, he is actually targeting them. And he let everyone know so with the comments he made today regarding Cowboys QB Tony Romo and RB Felix Jones:
“Absolutely. I want to get a chance to put my helmet on whatever’s hurt,” Hall said. “Romo’s ribs — I’m going to be asking for some corner blitzes. If I know Felix Jones’ shoulder’s hurt, I’m not going to cut him. I’m definitely going to try to hit him up high, so that’s just part of it.”
“If you know something’s wrong with an opponent, you’re going to try to target in on that. We’re going to try to definitely get as many hats on that team as possible.”
First off, if these statements were made by Nnamdi Asomugha or Darrelle Revis, we would probably shrug and move on. It’s common knowledge that if an opponent is hurting your going to make things tougher for them. However, because DeAngelo Hall said this, it will be looked at as another case of a slightly above-average player making arrogant remarks.
The Skins have started the year 2-0 behind QB Rex Grossman, so they’re feeling pretty good about themselves. If DeAngelo shuts down his receivers on Monday night, he can go on making outrageous comments. However, if Romo embarrasses the Redskins the way Mike Vick did on Monday Night Football last year, then it would be best for him to stay away from the mic for a while.
