Back in 2005 Victor Ortiz was just starting his professional career. In his 8th professional fight he went up against lightly regarded Corey Alarcon.
It was a fight that Ortiz was winning fairly easily when this happened.
This is what you would call a CLEAR & ILLEGAL SUCKER PUNCH. For those who thought that Floyd Mayweather did anything illegal or wrong in KOing Ortiz needs to watch the video to see what it really means to illegally hit on the break.
Even Ortiz’s camp realizes this as they will not protest Mayweather’s KO victory.
Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada commission, said Rolando Arellano, Ortiz’s manager, told him late Monday that there would be no protest attempt.
“He indicated that they weren’t going to appeal, and that while they weren’t happy with how the fight ended, the punches were legal,” Kizere said. “He said it was a learning experience for Victor”
Ortiz should concentrate on a rematch with Andre Berto and maybe down the road when he has more experience he will be ready for a big spotlight fight again.
