We were one of the first to report an accusation by fan that Amar’e Stoudemire called him “Fag” via DM on Twitter. We also reported on several other fans that had run ins with Amar’e on Twitter.
As the story picked up steamed Amar’e issued an apology to the fan and while that seemed to satisfy most people the NBA is still going to look into it.
The NBA plans to look into the authenticity of a profane direct message allegedly sent by Amar’e Stoudemire to a fan over the weekend, the New York Post reported, citing a source.
Complicating matters for Amar’e is that this incident happened during Gay Pride weekend in New York.
My issue with Amar’e wasn’t so much what he said, but that he chose to say it in a cowardly way knowing that the fan could not reply back to him via the Direct Message.
If the apology was good enough for the fan, it was good enough for me and hopefully Amar’e learned a lesson about how being a Twitter gangster can come back to haunt you.
