Well it took up until game time to be announced, but the NBA finally has a ruling on Matt Barnes.
ESPN L.A. is reporting that Barnes will miss the season opener at home against the Memphis Grizzlies for a summer arrest in which Barnes was charged with resisting arrest.
Barnes was arrested in Manhattan Beach on outstanding traffic claims of $26,000 in unpaid fines and driving without a license.
Barnes initially made claims that the officer was stalking him, and waited almost two hours to arrest him.
“They would not talk about it because they didn’t have anything to say,” Barnes said. “The whole truth will come out, but I was harassed by this cop for a good three months. He took my car during a playoff game and made me walk home, arrested me when I was walking down the street.
“I went through some stuff but everything worked out and I’m here, so I’m happy about that.”
Barnes was upset about the decision calling it a joke, but wished his teammates well.
