What Adrian Peterson is doing is amazing.
He is leading the league in rushing coming back sooner from an ACL injury than anyone ever imagined. With that being said not everyone is AP.
I think it would be wise for the Bulls to exercise caution with Derrick Rose. AP plays once a week and maybe touches the ball 20 times a game. That is different than a point guard having the ball in his hand the majority of the time and playing multiple times a week.
Here is the advice AP has for D Rose.
“How far out is he (six months)?” Peterson said. “My advice for him would be to just attack it. Right now, the ligament is strong enough to cut with it. Don’t be hesitant. When you’re out doing drills, do it as you normally would any other day. Push yourself and challenge yourself. That’s the only way you’ll build the strength and confidence to where it should be.”
“And that’s what I would tell him: ‘Man, you’re (six months out), you’re strong, you can’t damage it unless a freak accident takes place,” he said. “Attack it like any other day and make sure, when you’re done working out, you know you’ve accomplished something.’ “
AP says it is more mental than physical. I agree with that, you have to trust your repaired knee and when Rose is ready he will be out there, just don’t rush it he has a long career ahead of him.
