Mr. GQ Tyson Chandler has missed the last eight games with a bulging disk in his cervical spine. Tonight the New York Knicks have a game against the Charlotte Bobcats, however the seven-foot center is expected to miss yet another game, while the Knicks are on a season-high seven game winning strike.
Although he was close to playing in the game verse the Boston Celtics, it appears the Knicks may be thinking long term and may elect to sit him out for the remainder of the season. One player who is fine with the extra precaution placed on Chandler is, Raymond Felton according to the New York Post.
“He’s fine,’’ Felton said. “We’re just making sure he’s going to be fine and we’re not going to miss him if he comes back too early and hurt his neck and he’s gone for the playoffs. If he stays out for the rest of the year, we’re fine with that. We got to make sure he’s OK (for the playoffs).’’
However Coach Mike Woodson doesn’t expect that to be the case for Chandler, while he is reviewing the how his two big men, Tyson Chandler and Amar’e Stoudemire, recover from lingering injuries.
“If anyone can make it back, it’s Amar’e, I promise you that,’’ said Woodson.
Luckily the late surge of Kenyon Martin has helped the Knicks, while their two big men are down. Regular season standings are great, but the Knicks are aware it’s about the playoffs, where they haven’t been too successful over the years.
