Canadian and University of Las Vegas freshman Anthony Bennett will forego a sophomore season of college basketball and enter the NBA Draft says a report by Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports.
UNLV freshman Anthony Bennett is expected to leave college after one season.
Sources told CBSSports.com that the 6-foot-8 Canadian forward, who averaged 16.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season, will make an official announcement sometime in the next week.
Bennett is considered a high-lottery pick in June’s NBA Draft and is ranked third overall in CBSSports.com’s latest mock draft.
Bennett’s didn’t have a particularly impressive performance in UNLV’s first-round upset loss to California in the NCAA March Madness tournament, finishing the game with 15 points and 10 rebounds after a slow start.
However, he’s expected to be picked fairly early in a supposedly weak NBA Draft, and he did have a stellar season for the Rebels, earning the honor of being named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year.
