Invicta FC 6 is scheduled for July 13th in Kansas City and it will be without one of it’s best fighters on the card. Atomweight Laura Sanko has pulled out of her match at the event due to pregnancy. We’ve seen this happen in the WNBA and even sometimes in other women’s sports, but it is a new occurrence in the world of MMA.
With the rapid popularity of women’s MMA, mainly in part to UFC champ Ronda Rousey, we can expect to see more these type of occurrences in the world of MMA. I can only imagine the look on Dana White’s face if one of his biggest attractions were to cancel a Pay-Per-View fight because of pregnancy.
Invicta FC is an all women’s promotion and showcase some of the best women MMA has to offer. They’ve replcaed Laura Sanko with Cassie Robb.
Robb lost by submission to Sanko at Invicta FC 4. This will be her second pro fight but she does feature an impressive amateur career. She’ll fight Livia Von Plettenberg in the opening bout of the online PPV.
I’d like to congratulate Laura Sanko on her pregnancy and her future in MMA. At the same time it’ll be interesting to see the sports biggest names have to face the same choice between fame and family in the future.
