According to a report by Pro Basketball Talk via the News Herald, the Cleveland Cavaliers have offered the Boston Celtics two second-round picks for franchise player and 10-time All Star forward Paul Pierce.
The Celtics may chose to go the rebuilding route and getting Pierce’s $15 million salary off the books, would go a long way in aiding the process. The Cavaliers are in search of a veteran small forward to complement their young core and have been linked to other potentially available players like Danny granger and Andre Iguodala.
The Cavs have likely spoken to the Celtics about small forward Paul Pierce’s availability. The latest rumor is the Cavs offering their two second-round picks for the 35-year-old Pierce. Pierce’s $15.3 million contract for next year would become guaranteed if he’s dealt.
Seems like a low-ball offer for a player of Pierce’s status, so I doubt a deal would happen if that’s the best the Cavaliers can offer.
