Shaquille O’Neal is enjoying life as a retiree.
He’s got a cush job at TNT, earning chips appearing in Adam Sandler movies, and now even has his own cream soda venture with Arizona.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of covering his Soda Shaq media day blitz at Basketball City, and The Deisel had a lot to say about basketball, fitness, and of course the NBA.
Shaq was asked who he felt was the better team out of the New York Knicks and newly reloaded Nets who now have championship aspirations after adding Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.
O’Neal as only he could, trolled the New York Metropolitan area, and said the “Nets were the better team by a long shot.”
“I’m going with the Nets right now over the Knicks — all day, every day,” O’Neal told Newsday on Thursday. “[Coach Jason] Kidd’s a great guy. He’s a great leader. I’m anxious to see when things get tough how the guys are going to respond.
“It’s a dangerous lineup. I was thinking about it on the way over here.”
The Nets of course finished five games behind the Knicks in the Atlantic. They will now trot out a roster of Pierce, Garnett, to mesh with Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, and Brook Lopez.
