Alex Smith spent his first 8 seasons as a San Francisco 49er before losing the starting job to Colin Kaepernick and being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in the offseason. Now he’s set to face his former team in a preseason game on Friday. Quarterbacks aren’t usually allowed to be touched at practice, so 49ers defensive players have never been able to get their hands on Smith. 49ers LB NaVorro Bowman, is especially anxious.
“There’s a first time for everything,” linebacker NaVorro Bowman said Thursday, via The Associated Press, with a smile. “We never got a chance to hit him. This time we can. We’re looking forward to it. I know Alex knows we’re coming. It’s football, man.”
Even though this is only a preseason game and starters aren’t expected to play long, it will be interested to see if any of Alex Smith’s former teammates are able to get a hit on him
