Due to his recent activities, Rashee Rice is already the subject of two police investigations; yet, his past could resurface and cause him even more suffering.
The NFL may punish the Kansas City Chiefs star more if a prior incident from his collegiate career comes to light.
For his alleged involvement in a multi-car collision on a Dallas highway in April, Rice was charged with eight felonies. It was alleged that Rice and four other men had been involved in street racing. He posted bond and was let out of jail.

In addition, he is currently the focus of an additional Dallas police investigation following allegations that he lured a man to a nightclub and assaulted him. Even worse, an incident that happened while he was at SMU has resurfaced, and before the 2023 NFL Draft, NFL teams were informed about it.
According to several sources cited by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, concerns were voiced prior to the draft over Rice’s possible involvement in the shooting of a fellow SMU athlete’s vehicle.
According to numerous accounts, Rice decided to go to an SMU game because he thought former SMU basketball player Kendric Davis was seeing his girlfriend behind his back. After that, he allegedly opened fire on Davis’ empty car.
According to the study, there was no mention of the incident at the time. However, after being informed, NFL teams—including the Chiefs—continued with their plan to select Rice.
Will Rashee Rice be cut by the Chiefs?
Although it’s unclear how the Chiefs will respond when the trial is over, it appears like the 24-year-old will be missing some time from the NFL.
In spite of his legal troubles, quarterback Patrick Mahomes appeared to support him when he returned to practice in April:
“I’ve worked with Rashee (Rice) brought the offseason, just in general. I’m sure we’ll continue that work as the legal process plays out,”
However, this event would infuriate Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid, who might view it as an unwelcome diversion as the Chiefs attempt to win the Super Bowl for the third time in a row this season.

According to NFL regulations, players “with a prior history of misconduct” may be punished, even if it happened before they joined the team. Rice’s alleged shooting event involving Davis’ automobile may fall under this category.
Although it seems the NFL will wait to make a judgment until after Rice’s legal matter is settled, FanSided reports that Rice may face a protracted suspension.
