If you watched the first episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” Cincinnati Bengals edition last week, you must agree that the funniest part of the show was when linebacker James Harrison, was being blatantly disrespectful to the show’s cameras, closing doors in their faces, even going as far as showing them his middle finger.
Well according to Jeff Schwab of Yahoo! Sports, Harrison explained to the Cincinnati Enquirer, why he was being so hostile.
“I don’t feel they deserve to be here,” Harrison told the Enquirer “They did nothing to be here, other than want to be here. They didn’t put no blood, sweat and tears into none of this. All these men in here, they did that. They (the cameras) did nothing. No one deserves to see this, to come inside of this unless you’re a part of this. That’s why.”
Here’s the thing that Harrison needs to understand, the show isn’t for him, it’s for the fans who spend their hard-earned money on the NFL which in turn pays him millions to play a game.
Fans want to get a glimpse of the behind the scenes happenings on NFL teams, and Hard Knocks does an excellent job of providing that content. Someone needs to inform James that alienating the folks who help put millions in your pockets isn’t a very prudent way to run a business.
And for a guy who hates the show, he did an great job of making himself a storyline in the first episode.
