I’ve seen one too many pitchers in the MLB this season, get smacked in the head by line shots off the bats of hitters. It’s scary to watch and definitely more terrifying to be the guy on the mound who is one pitch away from an uncertain future.
But that’s the risk pitchers take every time they take the field, and fortunately for Lansing Lugnuts pitcher Daniel Norris, his baseball career still remains on an upward trajectory following a brush with fate.
During a game today between the Toronto Blue Jays minor league affiliate and the West Michigan Whitecaps, a hitter sent Norris’ pitch right back at his face, but fortunately for the Lugnuts pitcher, his cat-like reflexes saved him from a trip to the hospital.
His reaction after the catch said it all.
