Perhaps Ndamukong Suh is maturing. I guess he is taking his new role as a team captain seriously. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the talented Lions defensive tackle talked with the team on the topic of discipline. He specifically told the team they needed to avoid silly penalties. Linebacker Ashlee Palmer had this to say:
“I wouldn’t have seen Suh doing that a couple years ago. But like I said, he’s coming out of his shell. I think that’s going to be a big positive for us because we know we got him on the boat, and it’s all good now.”
It’s good to see Suh step up in the leadership department for a team that desperately needs it. The final step to the puzzle will be to put his good play on the field together will good behavior, leading by example. It doesn’t exactly work to tell your teammates to stop silly penalties while you are stomping guys out.
