Mack Brown can see the writing on the wall, and is trying to hold off his inevitable departure from Texas for another year or two.
Texas has won six straight games since September, and that awful loss to BYU is a somewhat distant memory. Brown of course has dealt with widespread criticism in the face of rumors about Nick Saban replacing as Longhorns head coach.
Brown says he and Saban are friends, and according to Al.com, says “Saban isn’t trying to take his job.”
“Nick is a friend and he’s done a tremendous job at Alabama,” Brown said Friday morning on the Tim Brando Show on CBS radio. “Nick’s not trying to get my job, I mean, I know Nick. So I don’t have to worry about that. And if I do my job, there won’t be any job to be open to get, so I think that’s the other thing.”
Saban has denied any interest in the Texas job.
