The rich get richer…
Jeffrey Loria aka Darth Loria, if you’re a Marlins fan, is a pretty horrible owner, but the one thing the guy does have a knack for is getting money.
On Monday Loria sold an Alberto Giacometti portrait for the sum of $32.6 million, at an art auction in New York. Mind you, that’s just $7 million less than the entire Marlins payroll–seriously.
In case you need a reminder on the long and illustrious list of terrible deeds by Mr. Loria, just hone in on what was the Miami Marlins’ 2012 season compared to where they are now. The man never met a fire sale he hasn’t liked.
No word on what the already very wealthy man will do with his earnings, but let’s not hold our breath on it going back into the team he single handily destroyed.
