The writing is on the wall for Chris Johnson, but if you listen to his latest comments, he’s not quite ready to read it.
Johnson, according to reports, will be out in Tennessee at the end of this season. The three time pro bowler told the Tennessean that he can’t worry about his future, but he doesn’t want to leave the Titans.
“Every player on this team is only guaranteed three more games this season, and basically at the end of the day, whatever happens, happens,” Johnson said. “All I can worry about is the next game.”
Johnson, whose contract expires after the 2016 season, is scheduled to make $8 million in base salary next season, followed by $8 million in 2015 and $7 million in 2016.
If he’s cut, he won’t see that money. So of course Johnson wants to remain a Titan.
“Of course I want to be here,” Johnson said. “I signed a contract to be here, so if it was up to me I’ll finish my career as a Titan.”
