If this guarantee was based off of athletic potential alone, I would agree and bet on Kenny Britt. It’s not simply about athletic prowess or skill for Kenny Britt.
The soon to be ex-Tennessee Titan spoke at length with the media today and made it clear that you haven’t heard the last from him. According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, Britt guaranteed he would resurface and be a No.1 receiver on a team next season.
“I am going to be a No. 1 receiver somewhere else if I am not here next year, and that is guaranteed,” Britt said Thursday. “I am definitely going to be a receiver that makes plays on Sundays and makes something happen for a team.”
Britt was supposed to have a breakout season, but instead landed in the dog house of Mike Munchak after making the same mistakes week in and week out.
Britt though acknowledged some maturing, and says he’s ready for his next stop.
“Whatever happens next year, I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
“I probably would have exploded in my second or third year, but I have matured a lot. There were times I wanted to explode and I had support behind me,” he said. “It’s what they wanted to do, so no hard feelings. They didn’t draft Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter to sit on the bench, and I understand that. They are good players and I hope it works out well for them, too.”
