Wow, Paul George may have fired a single shot at 6 different people.
George and the Pacers are hell bent on dethroning LeBron James and the Miami Heat. George doesn’t want people to get it misconstrude that he and LeBron have any type of chummy, Kevin Durant type relationship.
Some people point to game two of the Eastern Conference Finals and that hand slap of respect George and James shared. George told USA Today that he and “LeBron are competitors, not friends.”
“I mean, it’s not much of a relationship,” George said about James. “The only time I see him is when we have Nike events or stuff like that.
“It’s not too big like in the summers, we go fly out (together) or (I) go hang out with LeBron.”
“I was so locked in on what was going on with the conference finals. I guess the media really made a big deal out of it. I didn’t really make a big deal out of it,” George said. “It wasn’t more so that LeBron gave me a high five … I wasn’t a fan at that point. I was really trying to take him out.
“It wasn’t no friendship, buddy handshake. It was more so just respect. He understood that it wasn’t going to be easy and I was going to try to pull the best out of him, the same that he was doing to me.”
George says that burdgeoning competition started while he was a campee at the annual Nike LeBron James Skills Academy ironically.
“I had my moments when we played pick-up games,” George said, “and I took the challenge – took the challenge of guarding him and took the challenge of going at him and trying to score on him.”
I see what you’re doing there Paul.
I see you.
