The Panthers locked down free agent Graham Gano according to CBS Sports. Gano hit 88.9% of his kicks last season and didn’t miss a single extra point. However, the last time the Panthers gave a nice contract to a kicker it was Olindo Mare, which ended up as a disaster for the team. Coach Ron Rivera is stressing the importance of special teams and feels that Gano will give the team the special teams security that they need.
“The special teams unit was a large part of our success last year, and we are excited to keep Graham as a part of our team,” Ron Rivera said. “Graham has shown range and accuracy in his field goal kicking, and his strong leg has been a weapon for us on kickoffs.”
Gano is a young kicker that’s showing a lot of promise, so this should be a good decision for the Panthers.
