Baseball is a sport that deceivingly seems to move pretty slow, but we often forget that some of these pitches are moving at an excess of 90 mph. Monday afternoon’s Reds vs Indians game gives us a wake up call to the actual speed of the game. According to CBS Sports, umpire Brad Myers unfortunately happened to be in the path of a line drive. Even worse was that the ball ended up clocking him right in the nuts. Even I call feel for the poor guy.
Reds 2B Brandon Phillips seemed to have gotten a good laugh out of the unfortunate incident, but the truth is that Myers could have been seriously hurt. Thankfully, Myers was able to walk to the cart where he was then taken to get medical attention.
