According to a report from Yahoo sports, Houston Rockets point guard Patrick Beverly has chosen to not have an operation on his injured right knee, after meeting with Dr. James Andrews; orthopedic surgeon to the stars.
Based on the opinion of Dr. Andrews, Beverly will be considered “week to week” in his return to the Rockets lineup and his effectiveness will be determined based on the success of his rehab program.
It was previously thought that he would miss the remainder of the season and perhaps the playoffs after injuring his right knee in Houston’s 120-98 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
There is no doubt that the Rockets are a much better defensive team with Beverly in the rotation. If they plan on slowing down the talented guards in the west this spring, they’d better hope he’s able to contribute meaningful minutes. If he’s not; an early round exit from the playoffs is a real possibility.
