Puig was back in the lineup Saturday, after being benched for tardiness in the Dodgers Home Opener.
Puig’s body has been taking a beating every game it seems. I said it before and I’ll say it again, the only thing standing in the Dodgers’ way for greatness is their inability to stay healthy.
In the third inning Puig hit a bouncer up the middle, Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford grabbed hold of it and launched it to first, but not in time as Puig had dove head-first to beat the play. Puig would eventually get picked off, after the daring play.
Afterwards Puig was seen consulting with the team trainer but he remained in the game. After the game Puig had an X-ray on his thumb for precautionary measures, and results have not yet been determined.
Puig’s reckless abandoned style of play has to be dialed down just a notched, he’s way too valuable to be lost off small plays.
