Van Gaal replaces David Moyes who was fired last month after just 10 months in charge. Van Gaal will take over after the World Cup in Brazil.
Van Gaal has experience of coaching some of the world’s biggest clubs after stints at Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in his 28-year managerial career, but has never managed in England’s Premier League.
