Not everyone likes the way Marshawn Lynch conducts himself in the public (or non public) eye. He will say what he wants and do what he wants when he wants to do it. I, for one, totally respect the way he carries himself, and his latest headline makes me feel no different.
According to The Seattle Times, when the Seattle Seahawks went to the White House yesterday, Lynch was not in attendance. His mother, Delisa Lynch spoke to the news outlet in an interview, shedding some light on why her son chose not to participate in the annual NFL tradition:
“He just said he didn’t want to go. No particular reason was given to me,’’ she said. “He just said he didn’t want to go.’’
President Barack Obama didn’t seem to mind that Lynch wasn’t there, in fact he seemed to understand that at the end of the day, Marshawn is going to do what Marshawn wants to do, no matter the circumstances.
“I am sorry that Marshawn’s not here because I just want to say how much I admire his approach to the press,” Obama said in a line that drew plenty of laughs. “I wanted to get some tips from him. It’s about the action.”
It has not been reported why Lynch missed the ceremony, but, even though it’s a nice bonding time for the championship team, I can bet the Seahawks aren’t mad one bit at him.
They know he’s “bout dat action, boss”.
