Marcus Smart Refuses to Workout for the Jazz

NBA draft prospect Marcus Smart doesn’t seem to be making wise decisions right now. The Utah Jazz have had Smart high on their draft list, but Smart is refusing to work out for them. According to reports, the team has contacted his agent on four different occasions to try to get Smart to their facility for the work out, but there has been no action taken by Smart to come to Utah.

Smart’s team is claiming that they are looking for him to be drafted no lower than #4, but unless Dante Exum, Joel Embiid, Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins drop out of the top 4, this goal doesn’t seem like it’s realistic. Maybe Smart is trying to go lower to the bigger market teams such as the Lakers and the Celtics, who have the #6 and #7 picks in the draft. Smart’s actions certainly implies that this is what he’s trying to do.

The Jazz claim they are very interested in Smart.However. Walt Perrin, who is the VP of Player Personnel, also says that Smart tweeted that the team was not interested in him and later deleted it. If this is the case, the Jazz should just move on. Smart clearly doesn’t want to be in Utah, and if that means dropping in the draft for him, then so be it.
