Before Keith Sweat attempted to make it last forever, the legendary R&B crooner James Ingram, pleaded with his woman to find a way to finally make it right. Pat Riley has plenty of experience with convincing stars to sacrifice for their team, but unlike the Temptations & TLC, he is too proud to beg.
I did not recite the lyrics of “Just Once.” That was Chris [Bosh] & I reminiscing last night, about me running out the door in ’85… or ’84, whenever it was. – Pat Riley, ESPN
Riley compared the current situation with the Lakers in ’84, when Larry Bird carried the Celtics to his second ring in 7 games, after the Lakers dropped the first 2 games of the Finals. We shall see how the Big 3 plays this situation. Hopefully Riley, like Ingram, can find a way to make the magic last for more than just one night.
