Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins (Lumberjack Match)
Finally (hopefully) we are going to get the long-awaited showdown between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. This match has literally been months in the making, and after canceling it at BattleGround (much to the dismay of everyone), SummerSlam will be the night the two finally hook up in the ring.
First things first, a lumberjack match? If WWE wanted to add a stipulation here, there were so many better options for this bout (like say, Money in the Bank is on the line in a ladder match), but the only positive here is it seems the company intends on keeping this thing going. And really, we all win if that happens.
Ambrose is a man on a mission. After being betrayed by Rollins (still not over it) when Mr. Money in the Bank disbanded the Shield with the chairshot heard round the world, Ambrose has made it his weekly mission to make Rollins life hell. And it has been so much fun to watch.
Sunday, there will be no more running for Rollins as he will finally have to meet Ambrose in the ring, surrounded by dozens of WWE Superstars. For Rollins, this match is a chance to prove that he made the right decision leaving the Shield. For weeks, Rollins has talked himself up and then backed up his talk with Authority-assisted wins in big matches.
The thing is, we know Rollins can wrestle. He might be the best bump-taker in the entire company (sorry Dolph), and his high-flying moveset is a definite crowd-pleaser whether he is a face or heel.
The same can be said for Ambrose. There might not be a more entertaining wrestler in the entire WWE. His unorthodox style has endeared him to fans in a way few could have predicted. For months it was assumed that Ambrose would be the guy who turned heel and broke the Shield apart, and somehow he has become the most popular of all three former members.
!!! DEAN AMBROSE CRAZY EYES ALERT!!!
So what happens in this match? I’m guessing Ambrose and Rollins put on a show. In fact, I would be willing to bet that despite the handicap of it being a lumberjack match, the two men steal the show at SummerSlam. Ambrose gets his revenge, but Rollins gets the win thanks to some underhanded tactic.
And if we’re all lucky, the feud continues well into the new year.
