Yoenis Cespedes wasn’t a happy camper to leave the Oakland A’s, who boast the best record in the majors, to go to a Boston Red Sox team which is struggling.
Cespedes was apart of the major deal which brought Jon Lester to Oakland, and of course, the move took Cespedes by surprise. The former A’s slugger says he was brought nearly to the point of tears when he had to leave the team.
He had this sincere message for his ex-teammates:
“It was a true and sincere honor to have started my career with the Oakland A’s, and I wish the players, the coaching staff, the front office, nothing but the best of luck moving forward and in the postseason, and I hope you win it all. I want you to know it was a great pleasure to play there, and I just want to say thank you to everybody over there.”
While, one has to wonder if he’ll still feel that way if the Sox somehow get into the playoffs, the statement was quite endearing.
