Robert Griffin III wore a “Know Jesus Know Peace” shirt in the lockeroom before meeting with the media about his dislocated left ankle injury. However, according to Yahoo Sports, by the time he got to the podium he turned the shirt inside out.
The reasoning behind turning the shirt inside out is that the NFL has strict rules on wearing sporting apparel from companies other than league sponsors during post game media interviews.
Washington Post blog columnist Dan Steinberg commented and snapped a picture of the dinged up quarterback during the interview.
Steinberg said that the shirt was made by a company called Not of This World, which prints religious-based shirts. He goes on to say that it wouldn’t appear to conflict with NFL apparel however from the NFL’s Rules “players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or orally promoting equipment, apparel, or other items that carry commercial names or logos.”
Griffin was already fined $10,000 last season for wearing an “Operation Patience” shirt before fans even arrived in the stadium.
They should just let RG3 wear the shirt because we all know he needs Jesus right about now.
