Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver Steve Smith Sr. will be honored on September 30th for his work on behalf of homeless people by the National Law Center for Homelessness and Poverty. He will be honored at the 16th annual McKinney-Vento award in Washington DC. Steve Smith and his wife, Angie, established the Steve Smith Family Foundation to help support the cause of the homeless, advocate against domestic violence, and to help families in need. It appears that Smith indeed does practice what he preaches as he sent out a few tweets yesterday disparaging domestic violence.

In the wake of all of the negativity surrounding the NFL right now, it is important to note that there are still many players who use their fame and celebrity for good purposes and positively impact their communities.
