On Tuesday, Quentin Flowers received the good news that he was to be the starting quarterback for the USF Bulls. The joy was short-lived as Flowers learned on Thursday that his older, Bradley, had been shot and killed in Miami.
Bradley Holt, 24, was killed after he noticed a car driving erratically in front of his apartment complex, where many children were playing. He yelled something at the car in concern for the children, then was shot and killed by the driver a few minutes later, police said.
Flowers has already faced tremendous tragedy in his life. His father was shot and killed in front of their home when he was just 7 years old, and his mother died of cancer when he was in high school. USF head coach Willie Taggart issued a statement regarding the senseless incident.
“The thoughts and prayers of everyone in our football program and the USF family are with Quinton and his family as they cope with this senseless tragedy,” said head coach Willie Taggart. “Quinton is a special young man who has had to endure far more at his young age than anyone should. We will do everything we can to help see him through this very difficult loss.”
Flowers still plans to travel with the team to Dallas for their game against SMU on Saturday.
