Mike Alvarado is only 2 and a half weeks from a third brawl with Brandon Rios but he spent last night in jail, not training.
Alvarado was pulled over in Denver for expired plates on his Hummer when the cops saw him suspiciously close his glove box. The cops ran his plates, found out that he had a felony warrant and then searched his vehicle.
They found a gun in the glove box, which is shunned upon for felons, and proceeded to arrest Alvarado.
Despite his arrest promoters say that this will not efaffectis fight against Rios.
“We are aware of everything that went on that we can be aware of and we were told that Mike hasn’t missed any training and plans to be at the gym for his regular training as usual,” Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti told ESPN.com on Monday. “We don’t condone what happened in any way and we respect the authorities. That said, we don’t anticipate a problem with the show and it is still scheduled to go ahead on Jan. 24. After that, Mike will have to deal with the legal issues.”
“[This kind of publicity] doesn’t help the event. This isn’t the kind of publicity we want, but I don’t think it will affect Mike’s performance.”
Alvarado posted $41K bail last night and is said to be back to training his morning.
