Greg Anthony Found Escort on Backpage Ad; Agreed to $80 For Sex

Backpage

I am going to be perfectly honest, I know prostitution is illegal, but they way they set Greg Anthony up is super shady to me.

Here are the details via the Washington Post.

Anthony, 47, responded to an escort ad that was placed on Backpage.com by the undercover officer who was part of the Human Trafficking Unit.

According to the charging documents, when the undercover officer arrived at Anthony’s room around 5:45 p.m. the undercover officer said it cost $80 for sex. Anthony immediately tried to rebuff such talk and said “Oh I don’t wanna say all that.” The undercover officer responded “I just need to know so I don’t have any surprises.”

After the two discussed the type of sex, the undercover officer then asked “You want me to dress up?” Anthony responded “oh yeah.” No further details were given.

The undercover officer then gave a signal for the arrest team to move in. Anthony was arrested and charged with misdemeanor solicitation for prostitution. Anthony is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 2.

So, Anthony is answering a perfectly reasonable AD for an escort (paying for an escort is not illegal, only if YOU ask for sex), then when the cop starts talking sex and money, Anthony tries to back out.

Let’s stop right there, as soon as Anthony is trying to back out of the situation, the cops should have let him go because it is obvious he wasn’t trying to do anything illegal, nor was he some sort of dangerous criminal.  It is my opinion they realized who he was and saw an opportunity to bring in a big fish.  The cops keep pressing him until she asks him if he wants her to play dress up. What man is going to say no to that?  So, you are in a hotel room, the woman is talking to you about sex, she is the one who brought up money and Anthony is the one who is getting charged?

Let’s say Anthony just randomly met a woman in a hotel and she did the exact same thing, then said let me hold $80, would that be a crime?

Listen, I understand you have to follow the law, but this seems more like entrapment of horny men than really trying to stop some heinous crime.  Don’t they have drug dealers and gang members to set up stings for in DC?

I hope Anthony gets his job back, when all of this dies down.
