The past few years has been interesting for Louisiana Tech defensive coordinator Manny Diaz. He was hired away from Mississippi State to take the vacant defensive coordinator position at the University of Texas and while he had some success there, he was fired after the BYU debacle in Provo. Diaz landed on his feet at Louisiana Tech and quickly turned around the defensive unit this year. Diaz has rebuilt his image to the point that Mississippi State has decided to rehire him as their defensive coordinator.

Diaz had success at Mississippi State during his first stint as the defensive playcaller, so it will be interesting to see how he does this time. State isn’t lacking defensive talent and Diaz certainly showed he is capable of working with inferior personnel this year and getting the most out of it.
