The Dallas Cowboys chose to place the franchise tag on Dez Bryant locking him down for next season yet they have been unable to work out a deal with teammate DeMarco Murray. DeMarco is set to become a free agent but the Cowboys feel they have a chance to keep him.
#Cowboys will make "respectable" offer to @DeMarcoMurray, hope he provides chance to match offers but no obligation, limited flexibility

This is a dangerous game for the Cowboys to play because DeMarco has no obligation to allowing the Cowboys to match the offers of other teams. I’m sure Dallas has a ‘wink and nod’ type deal with DeMarco but that failed them last year with DeMarcus Ware. DeMarcus was in a similar situation, allowed to test free agency, signed with the Denver Broncos just one day after being released from Dallas never giving the Cowboys a chance to match the offer.
DeMarco Murray was a work horse last year for the Cowboys. He led the NFL in carried and rushing yards with 392 and 1845 respectively. He also hauled in 57 receptions for 416 yards. DeMarco will have plenty offers to look over that maybe more profitable than what Dallas is willing to pay but he has stated that money is not the only factor in deciding his future.
