The Buffalo Bills gave LeSean McCoy a new $50 million contract, and Rex Ryan intends on getting every dollar out of him.
Ryan isn’t falling for the same trick that doomed him in New York. With two unreliable passers — EJ Manuel and Matt Cassel — Ryan has vowed to run the ball “50 times a game” if need be.
“We prefer to ground and pound it, we’re going to run it 50 times if we can on you,” Ryan said on WGR 550-AM in Buffalo, via the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.
Ryan’s not a full, and knows not many Super Bowl are won with that formula.
“We’re not naive enough to think we’re going to be able to get away with that,” Ryan said of running all game. “We can spread you out and create some nightmares in coverage. If you want to stop our run by keeping all the big guys in there, then so be it, we’ll be able to hurt you in a lot of different ways outside.”
I think Ryan made those comments before all of his huge signings.
The Bills will trot out a stable of running backs that include LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson, Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown. Add talented young receivers in Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods, to the mix with the addition of Percy Harvin and Charles Clay — and you have yourself a juggernaut in the making.
Buffalo just needs a passer.
