Across the sports universe, league’s and franchises are doing their best to prevent head injuries to their current players. While some would disagree on whether or not WWE is a sport or not, the company is taking the same initiative, reportedly banning the finishing move of one of their biggest stars.
Seth Rollins is currently the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and he has quickly risen through the ranks in WWE. His Curb Stomp finisher is one of the most devastating in the company. In case you haven’t seen it, here’s what a typical Curb Stomp from the Champ looks like.
And according to Wrestle Zone, the Curb Stomp is no more as WWE feels it could unnecessarily lead to head injuries for some of its stars.
According to WWE sources, the company will be banning Seth Rollins from using the curb stomp finishing move.
WWE’s feeling about the move, which the WWE World Heavyweight Champion uses as his finisher, is that it’s too much of a direct liability and risk for a head injury.
WWE reportedly doesn’t want its top star to be doing that move every night and they also don’t want to be showing it in past clips or videos anymore.
Not using video of it anymore seems a bit drastic, but I can see why WWE would want to eliminate the move altogether and on Raw last night Rollins was already using a different finisher to end his match.
Personally, I don’t think the move is all that dangerous, Rollins is an absolute professional and one of the best wrestlers in the business. However with WWE facing multiple concussion lawsuits from past wrestlers, I can see why the company would want to distance itself from the move.
