I have no clue what is going on in San Francisco. It seems like once Jim Harbaugh left everything went south. Several of the 49ers’ players have decided to retire randomly out of the blue and now another one of their young studs find himself battling with the same decision. Eric Reid, 23, suffered from three concussions in just his first two NFL seasons leaving him in an uncomfortable position.
“Everybody evaluates their own situation as far as playing this game,” Reid shared with The Chronicle. “I have you evaluated mine and I’ve decided I want to play.”
Reid was a first-round pick in 2013, he plans to play this upcoming season although he admits he might seek more medical advice.
“There is a doctor that I am looking further into and I may end up going to see. Like I said, right now I’ve evaluated my situation and I feel comfortable playing”
Teammate Chris Borland, 24, decided back in March to retire after only one season. Anthony Davis decided last week to follow Borland’s lead as he decided to retire as well. Veteran Patrick Willis called it quits back in March at the age of 30 although he was still playing at an elite level.
