T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Chad Johnson once made up arguably the best wide receiver tandem in the NFL from 2004 to 2008.
Houshmandzadeh’s actually led the league with 112 catches and scored 12 touchdowns in 2007. T.J. is back in Cincinnati with the Bengals as a coaching intern through the Bill Walsh minority coaching program.
“As always, we are happy to have these guys with us in the Bill Walsh program,” head coach Marvin Lewis said, per Cincinnati.com. “This program helped me get ahead as a coach, and it’s great to see it continue as strong as it is. It’s a good experience for our full-time coaches as well as the interns.”
Marvin Lewis is a veteran of the minority coaching program himself, spending time with the 49ers and Chiefs in the early 1990s before getting his first official NFL assistant coaching job with the Steelers. Lewis career took off from there.
Houshmandzadeh will be with the team for two weeks — working mostly with their wide receivers during that time.
