Shawn Marion let us know at the end of the season that he’d be retiring this year, but do you still believe him after this Finals loss?
I hope so, ’cause he meant it emphatically.
One of the most dynamic talents of the modern era has confirmed his intention to call it a career, with Shawn Marion telling ESPN’s Marc Stein that he will follow through with retirement.
“Hell yeah,” Marion told Stein via text on Thursday.
That leaves little doubt.
It’s been a long journey from the 1999 draft for the lanky forward; but at 36 years old, and after 4 All Star selections with 1 Championship to boot, its fair to say Marion’s career has been a success.
He doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy who will sit around and wait until halfway through next season to sign with the strongest championship contender, but I guess only time will tell.
Until then, congrats and good riddance, Shawn Marion.
