Sixers president and general manager Sam Hinkie joined the broadcast booth during the first quarter of the team’s Utah Jazz Summer League finale on Thursday night.
When the topic of Joel Embiid was raised, Hinkie was just as non-committal as he’s been throughout this entire process.
Hinkie admitted the organization is taking it slowly before ultimately making a decision on what to do next with the 21-year-old according to reports.
“No change as of yet,” Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie said Thursday. “A number of meetings are happening about that, even one today. But we have meetings almost every day about that. We don’t have anything ready to announce.”
“These are decisions you want to spend enough time on to make sure: A, you get it right, and B, you really talked through things and everything is on the same page,” Hinkie said.
“We are not one to rush what’s important. And the health of our players, name something more important. It’s hard to find something more important.”
Embiid is headed Las Vegas as we speak, to watch the Sixers summer league games, but we do know that surgery is still an option.
