New York wanted it but not as badly as Alex Rodriguez himself. A-Rod hoped to hear his name called as an All-Star reserve and many felt his numbers warranted a spot. Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be as Alex Rodriguez missed out on the All-Star Game with teammate Mark Teixeira getting a nod instead. Many will debate on whether this was a good call or not. If you strictly look at it from the numbers stand point, every AL player with a .900 or better OPS is in the All-Star Game, except A-Rod. It’s not all about numbers and A-Rod has been a polarizing figure who has fought baseball trying to make them look bad. So it makes sense that many don’t want to see him representing the sport in the All-Star Game. Still, it would have been a fun story.
