Kyrie Irving might be a little ahead of schedule with his rehabilitation from a fractured left kneecap. The injury was suffered during Game 1 one of the NBA Finals and all is going well for Kyrie with no set backs. Not only are things going well but Kyrie is now off his crutches and has been cleared by doctors to start working out again.
Irving has already stepped back on the court. Serving mainly as a mentor and coach during his Basketball ProCamp at Mentor High School over the weekend. Irving didn’t have any issues moving around during his camp, he was seen dribbling a ball a few times and he decided to give an update on his progress.
“It’s a process getting back to where I want to be. But I’m doing what I can hear with the key and that’s all that matters. I started walking about a week ago so whether I was on crutches or not I was going to be here with the kids.”
When asked about when he would be healthy enough to return to action with no limitations, Irving was hesitant to give himself a deadline.
“I’m honestly not going to date on anything. People are going to put a date regardless. I’m just continuing to be on the journey I’ve been on and that’s continuing to get better everything will day in rehab in my leg. I only had the cast on for two weeks. Then I was in a brace. Once I got clearance from our doctors that I could actually start working out and putting pressure on my leg I relish that.”
Kyrie is a smart man not to set a deadline or expectedly date to return to action. If he had done so, he could end up like RG3 rushing back to please his fans yet not playing up to his expectations but I’m sure Kyrie can wait to get back in action. How would the NBA Finals have been different for the Cavs if Irving was healthy?
